The Atlantic - Apparently, the saucy myth of droves of students engaging in an endless orgy of casual of sex in college is in actuality more rare. As it turns out, the only people having casual sex in college are white kids, rich kids, and rich white kids.
“Only 14 percent of students hookup more than 10 times in four years and these students are more likely than others to be white, wealthy, heterosexual, able-bodied, and conventionally attractive, according to quantitative studies of hookup behavior,” writes Slate’s Lisa Wade, putting the New York Times’s recent trend story in a new context by looking at race instead of gender. Wade cites a quantitative study from Indiana University’s Laura Hamilton and the University of Michigan’s Elizabeth A. Armstrong, who found data that support earlier studies that “found that white students, those who drink, and students with higher parental income are more likely to hook up.”
Finally, some good news for rich white people! You guys get to fuck a lot in college. Congrats. As if being poor wasn’t bad enough, having no money and shit, turns out you guys can’t even have sex 10 times in 4 years. Lameee. Not really sure why black people don’t hook up a lot but whatever, science don’t lie. If you ain’t rich and white you ain’t getting laid, bottom line.
Now if I put my lab coat on and delve into the numbers a little bit and apply stereotypes I think I can reason this out. Poor people are too busy with work-study and 2 jobs on the side trying to afford room & board to go out and get ass. Black people are too busy in the gym or practice fields dominating all the sports on their way to million dollar professional contracts. Sober people are just boring and frankly nobody wants to fuck them. Meanwhile the rich white kids are too entitled to work hard, too comfortable to worry about needing a job, and have no problem plying any chick in their immediate vicinity with enough booze and coke to get their pants off. Boom, college students effectively stereotyped, science explained.
