FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Minnesota Timberwolves rookie guard Shabazz Muhammad was sent home from the NBA’s Rookie Transition Program for violating of a rule and bringing a female guest into his hotel room Tuesday evening, a person familiar with situation told USA TODAY Sports. The person requested anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly about the situation. Muhammad, who also will be fined, was here for the four-day program which helps rookies transition into the league through a series of seminars, instructions and guest speakers.
Let me get this straight. There is a rookie program that is specifically designed to help new players transition into NBA life and being an NBA player…and they send you home and fine you for bringing a chick back to your hotel room? Like they have chaperones posted up in hotel hallways making sure everybody is studying and has their door open with both feet on the ground? Makes sense. I mean forget for a second that this dude just signed a roughly $1.5 million contract to play professional basketball as an occupation and is being treated like an 11 year old. Just caught up on the sheer irony of a seminar that teaches how to live the NBA life punishing you for doing literally the most NBA thing possible. Oh well.
