SF Weekly – Already panicking over the close of Girl Scout Cookie Season on Sunday? Stop stockpiling boxes for a second and head to Cevercería de MateVeza in the Mission today for a sampling of owners Jim Woods and Matt Coelho’s Girl Scout Cookies-inspired beers. There aren’t any real cookies in the five beers (nor any real Girl Scouts), but the brewing duo echoed the flavors of the nostalgic treats in peppermint porter (Thin Mints), peanut butter cream ale (Do-si-dos), shortbread golden ale (Trefoils), salted chocolate stout with peanut butter (Peanut Butter Patties), and a Belgian dubbel with coconut and cocoa nibs (Samoas).
Listen I’m as far from a beer snob as it gets. I don’t give a shit about hops and barley and high gravity. I don’t swirl my beer around the glass trying to detect the vanilla and caramel notes or takes tours of breweries. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a nice higher priced higher quality beer as much as the next guy, but I’m not going to sit down at the bar and demand they serve me a rare limited edition IPA draft or else I’m leaving. I’m fine with a Bud Light if that’s what you got. Having said that if the next bar I go into doesn’t have Samoas beer on tap or bottles of Peanut Butter Patties in the fridge I’m storming the fuck out of there and leaving a negative Yelp review so fast it will make your fucking head spin. 1 star. Not Fit for Foodies. Ambience: Sucks Dick. I mean this is just a flat out game changer. Changes the game. If you don’t have Girl Scout Cookie beer your bar sucks and you suck.
PS – 1) Peanut Butter Patties (Tagalongs)
2) Samoas
3) Thin Mints
